Welcome home

For years I’ve been wanting to journal my thoughts and write out how I feel and share what God reveals to me, but I’ve never quite gotten around to it and/or never put it into words! So here it is!

Let me introduce myself first- I’m Audrie

1- I am a Christ follower

2- I am a wife to a military vet.

3- I am a mother to 5 kiddos

4- I am a homeschool teacher

5- I am a health coach

6- I love vintage items & searching for them

7- I am an encourager & love hospitality

Ok enough about that, comment below if you are any of those things and we have something in common, but back to writing this blog- Abounding Roots!

This name came because well, honestly, Rooted & Grounded in Love was taken! I wanted rooted & grounded in love because as I read scripture alongside my church family, coming into 2023, the words rooted kept showing up for me and then I chose Ephesians 3:16-21a to be my scripture for the year!

Ephesians 3:16-20 says: that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his spirit in your inner being. So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, that you being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breath and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask, or think, according to the power at work within us to him be the glory.

The word rooted means to me making sure that I get my foundation solid on who I am in Christ first and foremost! So that is what I am doing! Working through scriptures & praying & seeking God! Asking for His presence to show up everyday and me be able to give Him the glory in whatever he does!

As I write blogs here I hope to give inspiration & encouragement on everyday things we go through in life that I experience and God helps me work through!

Lastly today I will talk about one place that is changing for me!

As I was growing up I didn’t really have the opportunity to cook or experiment in the kitchen. As an adult fresh out of my parents home, I made box foods, potatoes and eggs- maybe spaghetti- but cooking hamburger meat and using seasonings was out of my league! When I got married my husband literally did 90%, ok 98%, of the cooking! Then he joined the military! I had no choice but to learn!

Thankfully at our first duty station I was able to meet someone who had always cooked and learn some tips and ideas from her! Then we moved to Japan and I learned so much from several different wives and Japanese ladies! I was doing well!

But, it definitely did not bring me joy! It was drudgery and I just couldn’t get excited about it at all! Don’t get me wrong I have not arrived but I’m telling you, God really touched my heart this Valentines!

As I was preparing shrimp and broccoli Alfredo, homemade bread I had made earlier in the week, croutons that were homemade and the salad, I realized I love serving my family! My heart was touched and moved, so I started thinking on this!

This was the way of life not too long ago- wives cooking and serving their families with a happy heart- seriously grocery stores didn’t start until 1916! Soo, 107 years ago but honestly most people had gardens & canned,  and they harvested their own animals as well for a long time!

I joked and told friends at the beginning of the year that I was going Amish- not in the full since but I definitely wanted to start making more things at home and eating whole for our whole family! This is a slow process but I’m willing to continue this journey!

I’ve also loved collecting vintage kitchen items to use daily in my kitchen! I just love it so much! Maybe I could share some of those with you guys on my Instagram- @audrie_cash_health_coach
